Cyclesolihull organises a variety of short leisurely rides between 5 and 30 miles long.

Everybody is welcome to join the rides - they are free and no booking is required so just turn up with a bike!

New and returning cyclists and famiies with children are advised to try the shorter Taster and short 'S' rides first.

Types of Ride

All Cyclesolihull rides have the simple aim of getting more people cycling in Solihull by providing a friendly introduction to cycling with other people. On all the rides you won't have to worry about getting lost and there is informal help if something goes wrong. If you are feeling sociable, all the rides have a refreshment stop of about 30 minutes which provides and opportunity to chat.

The Sunday Cycle Rides are the heart of Cyclesolihull. They take place every Sundays starting at 2 pm (APril to September) or 1.30 pm (October to March) from one of various starting points around the borough. They are between 5 and 20 miles long.

One Sunday ride a month is a Taster Ride, a shorter ride of about 5 miles long. These rides are an ideal introduction to Cyclesolihull rides for new cyclists and families with children. They are just like the other rides but much shorter!

Evening Explorer rides weekly rides on selected weekdays from early May to mid- August. They start at 7 pm from various locations and finish before 9 pm.

Saturday Stretcher rides are the longest Cyclesolihull rides at about 30 miles. There have variable routes and they may use sections of busier roads. They are faster than the Sunday and evening rides and imed at more experienced cycleists.

All rides have a 20-30 minute refeshment stop at a cafe or pub.

Cyclesolihull rides go ahead unless there is persistant heavy rain (not just showers), very strong winds, snow or ice. Rides are rarely cancelled (5 in 2010 due to snow and ice) but if we feel this is necessary because forecast bad weather we will try and put information about this on the website before the start of the ride.
